Texas' tax free weekend starts Friday

Tom Hinde

Texas' tax free weekend begins Friday. The annual tax holiday continues through Sunday. The tax free weekend exempts most school-related items including clothing, footwear, backpacks and school supplies priced less than $100 from sales and use taxes.

The tax holiday includes items sold online, by telephone or mail. Shoppers can save an average of about $8 for every $100 spent. The annual tax break weekend has been held annually since 1999. For a detailed list of tax-exempt items, clothing and shoes, visit texastaxholiday.org.
