Amarillo Zoo celebrates International Tiger Day July 29

The Amarillo Zoo celebrates International Tiger Day Saturday, July 29 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Fewer than 4,000 tigers live in the wild today. Tigers may be one of the most admired animals, but they are also vulnerable to extinction. At this rate, according to the Amarillo Zoo, all tigers living in the wild could be extinct in five years.

Visitors can learn about tigers, and other big cats, and what can be done to help them. The zoo will also feature conservation information, tiger face painting, zoo keeper chats and children's crafts. Admission is $4 for adults, $3 for seniors and $2 for children.

The Amarillo Zoo is located at NE 24th Ave. and Dumas Highway inside Thompson Park. For more information, please call (806) 381-7911 or visit
