Amarillo Symphony opens 2016-2017 performance season Sept. 16-17

The Amarillo Symphony, the leader of orchestral music in the Texas Panhandle since 1924, kicks off the 2016-2017 season featuring opera highlights with Mary Jane Johnson. The opening performances are Friday, September 16 and Saturday, September 17 at 7:30 p.m. at the Globe-News Center for the Performing Arts. The symphony will perform Brahms' Symphony No. 3, Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries and Die Meistersinger. Then, Mary Jane Johnson joins the symphony performing selected arias from opera's greatest composers.
