Rainbow Room seeks donations for area children

Tom Hinde

The Rainbow Room and area businesses are coming together this holiday season to provide local children in foster care a special Christmas. The need is great according to Carrie Burleson with the Rainbow Room. Many sponsors and businesses support the program but have had to cutback due to the downturn in their oil and gas businesses. The Rainbow Room team is reaching out into our communities and civic groups with a call for help this holiday season.

Suggested gift items they are asking for this year include diapers, baby wipes, baby lotion, baby shampoo, toys, family games, male/female cologne sets and gift cards to local clothing and retail stores in our area. Drop locations this year include Country Chevrolet at 1400 W. Wilson and Borger Bank at 301 W. 6th St. in Borger. The Rainbow Room initiates, develops, and supports a donation room which Child Protective Service (CPS) caseworkers use to help meet the critical needs of abused and neglected children in the Borger and surrounding areas. For more information call Mary Jane McDougle with Country Chevrolet at 273-7171 or Michelle Griffin with Borger Bank at 275-5025..
