Dr. Carroll Alan Burke

Dr. Carroll Alan Burke was the only child of long time Phillips residents Coy and Dorothy Burke.  He was born in Borger on August 22, 1956 and was raised & educated in Phillips, TX.  He passed away in the ICU of Herman Memorial Hospital in Woodlands, TX from lung and infection complications on Monday, January 16, 2012.  He is survived by his Mother, Dorothy Burke, of Conroe, TX and his aunt, Annie Parker of Borger, TX.After finishing high school in Phillips in 1974, Alan for about one and half years served as an ambulance attendant.  He then sought the stability and higher pay of a local oil company. Eventually, he was accepted into the College of Medicine at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX.  After graduation, he did his residency in Conroe, TX, then decided to take a position with the emergency room staff at Conroe Regional Medical Center. For the next 14-years he worked in emergency rooms in Conroe, Dallas, Houston and The Woodlands. Alan never married and in the mid-1990’s he designed and constructed his “dream home” on Lake Conroe, north of Houston, TX, for he and his mother. In late-2003, Dr. Burke opened his own practice, Conroe Urgent Care Clinic, in Conroe, TX.  However, after a few years he elected to return to his “first love in medicine,” the ER.  He practiced emergency medicine at various hospitals in the greater Houston area.The last few years of his life, Alan had a number of illnesses and personal challenges that limited his medical practice somewhat.  However, he and his Mother continued to live on Lake Conroe until he was admitted to the hospital just before Christmas, 2011.Funeral services will be held at 3:00PM, Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Brown Chapel Of The Fountains in Borger, TX. Burial will follow at Highland Park Cemetery in Borger, TX. Dr. Burke will lie in state at Brown Chapel Of The Fountains in Borger, TX on Thursday, January 19, 2012 and Friday, January 20, 2012 from 8:00AM to 8:00PM and Saturday, January 21, 2012 from 8:00AM to 12:00PM.Send personal condolences to www.brownfuneraldirectors.net.
