Congressman Thornberry to host Warrior Town Hall May 25 in Amarillo

Congressman Mac Thornberry is set to host a Warrior Town Hall Thursday, May 25 in Amarillo. The town hall will be held at the Tascosa High School Auditorium located at 3921 Westlawn. The town hall begins at 6:30 p.m. Area veterans, their families and the public are invited to attend the event.

The event is designed to provide a forum for a panel of 10 combat veterans from various conflicts. The panel will share the pride, grief or quiet appreciation of their military service. Veterans and non-veterans are invited to come, listen and learn.

Most Americans do not know that fewer than one-half of one percent of all Americans served in the military during the last decade. In fact, only seven percent of all Americans alive today are veterans.. A Pew Research Center study cautioned that seventy-one percent of respondents knew little or nothing about the problems faced by military personnel. This civilian-military divide impacts society at large. It allows harmful stereotypes about military members and veterans to persist. It's a national issue that events like this were created to educate America.
