Comanches square off with Kiowas in crucial District 1-1A contest

Tonight the Booker Kiowas (8-8, 1-4) and the West Texas High Comanches (16-9, 1-4) square off in a big District 1-1A game.Both teams enter tonight with identical 1-4 district records and a win will keep one team right in the hunt for one of the district’s playoff berths, while the loser will start tp see their playoff hopes look bleak.In the district opener back on January 10th, the Kiowas came away with the 57-44 win at home, but have failed to win a district contest since.Despite their district woes, the Comanches still have the talent to finish the second half of district play on a good run and get into the playoffs. However, the results of tonight’s contest will determine if the late season run into the playoffs will be possible for the Comanches.Tip off between Booker and West Texas High is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. in Stinnett.The Borger Bulldogs (10-13, 1-2) begin the second round of District 1-3A play tonight on the road, taking on the Perryton Rangers (19-5, 2-1) beginning at 7:30 p.m.In their first meeting of the season, the Bulldogs were in position to get the win through the first three periods. However, Bulldog foul trouble and good outside shooting helped the Rangers leave Borger with an 11 point win.The Bulldogs and Rangers are looking to rebound from district losses on Tuesday.The Sanford-Fritch Eagles (2-17, 0-4), Borger Lady Bulldogs (4-19, 0-5) and West Texas Lady Comanches (7-20, 0-6) will each try to crack the district win column tonight.The Eagles will be in Amarillo to take on River Road (8-18, 0-4) in District 1-2A play, beginning at 7:30 p.m., while the Lady Bulldogs will be in Perryton (21-5, 5-0) to take on the Rangerettes at 6:00 p.m.The Lady Comanches are hosting the Booker Lady Kiowas (11-10, 2-4) beginning at 6:00 p.m. in Stinnett.The Sanford-Fritch Lady Eagles (17-9, 5-1) will also be in Amarillo to take on River Road (10-15, 2-4) beginning at 6:00 p.m.A win by the Lady Eagles will allow the team to take one step closer to securing a playoff spot and set up a big game on Tuesday, January 31st against district leading Spearman in Fritch.
