Comanches plan to rebound against the Tigers

After suffering their first loss of the season, the West Texas High Comanches look to rebound with a win to end non-district play on a high note over the next two weeks, beginning on Friday night when they take on the Electra Tigers in Wellington. In last Friday’s loss to Spearman, the Comanches were able to move the ball throughout the game, racking up 355 yards in total offense. However, five Comanche turnovers led to two Spearman touchdowns in the 31-14 loss for the Comanches.Through four games, the Comanches have racked up 1345 yards on the ground led by senior quarterback Alex Ramirez who has 550 yards rushing with seven touchdowns.Defensively, the Comanches gave up 308 yards of offense to Spearman. However, the Comanches defense has only giving up an average of 124 yards per game and should have a better performance this week against Electra.Last season, the Comanches came out and rolled right over the Tigers by a score of 70-20. But since that game, the football program in Electra has seen a change at head coach and is off to a decent start to the 2011 season, holding a 2-2 record.Like the Comanches, the Tigers will try to move the ball on the ground with Tyler Coats and Michael Bishop receiving the bulk of the carries.Defensively, the Tigers are averaging giving up 36 points a game, which could be good news for the Comanches offensive machine on Friday evening. After Friday’s contest, the Comanches will travel to Claude next week before opening District 1-1A play on October 7th against Boys Ranch.Kickoff between the Comanches and Tigers is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
