Plenty has happened across Hutchinson County over the last week, and in case you missed it, here's a quick review of the highlights. Of course schools in Borger and across the county kicked off a new year on Monday, and on Sunday August 23 churches across the county came together to walk the campuses of local school districts offering prayer for the safety, well being, and education of students.

Borger's Band kicked off its first live performance of the year on Monday, and proceeded to make final preparations for Borger's first home game on Friday August 28. Meanwhile Alibates National Monument announced several programs to be held in the park over the weekend to commemorate its 50th anniversary.

Gateway Baptist Church hosted Mark Cruz, a guest speaker, minister, and missionary to the Philippines on Thursday and Friday, and finally, the Borger Independent School Board of Trustees voted to maintain a balanced budget over the coming year, and lower property taxes on local residents.
