BPD makes arrest in abduction case

On Wednesday December 19th, 2012 the Borger Police Department investigated a reported Kidnapping of an adult victim. The alleged victim came to the Borger Police Department to report that they had been held against their will by Mark Jackson, later identified fully as Mark Alan Jackson, 44 years of age, of Borger. The incident was reported to have taken place at 400 South Hedgecoke Street, where Jackson had been currently staying. The victim and Jackson knew each other, therefore this was not a “Stranger Abduction”. Officers promptly continued their investigation at Jackson’s current residence on Hedgecoke Street, where Officers collected evidence related to the incident.On Thursday morning December 20th, 2012, Detectives with Borger Police Department obtained an Arrest Warrant for Jackson, charging Jackson with the Offense of Kidnapping. Shortly after obtaining the Arrest Warrant, Jackson was located at the residence on South Hedgecoke Street and was placed in custody without incident. Jackson was transported to the Borger Police Department where he was processed and incarcerated into the City of Borger Jail Facility for the Kidnapping Warrant. Kidnapping is a Felony of the Third Degree and carries a Sentence of up to 10 years in State Prison. Jackson was later transported to the Hutchinson County Jail in Stinnett where he was incarcerated in that facility. Jackson was incarcerated in the Hutchinson County Jail in Stinnett with a Bond Amount set at $50,000.00.Jackson is a Convicted Sex Offender, who currently registers with the City of Borger Police Department, and is also listed on the Texas Department of Public Safety Sex Offender Website. The Texas DPS Public Sex Offender Website list Jackson’s Risk Level as High and mandates him to register Annually for Life. The DPS Public Sex Offender Website lists two charges for Jackson, both being the charge of Indecency with a Child by Exposure. One incident occurred in 2003, where Jackson was sentenced to 5 years in State Prison. The other incident occurred in 1987, where Jackson was placed on 5 years Probation. The Borger Police Department has an active and aggressive Sex Offender Registration Program and works frequently with the District Attorney’s Office to promptly Prosecute those Sex Offenders who do not follow the terms of their Sex Offender Registration Requirements.
