Borger ISD board to meet Thursday

The Borger ISD Board will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012, in the board conference room of the BISD Administration Building, 200 East Ninth.An evaluation of administrative staff will take place. Following the evaluation, action will be taken on superintendent recommendations regarding the employment of principals in BISD and other administrative staff, which includes assistant principals, the business manager, the director of athletics, the director of the HAC SSA, the director for instruction and federal programs, the executive director of personnel, the director of technology, and the instructional services coordinator.Action will also be taken on resignations and substitutes to review pertaining to personnel matters. The board will consider action on the 2012-13 school calendar, and will also act on an order of election and a joint election order. A resolution will be considered regarding setting the school board election for May 12, 2012.Action will also be taken on Policy Update 92, affecting local policies, and the board will hear the annual review of investments, policies, and strategies. After the review, a resolution on these will be considered for passage.The board will act on several items under its consent agenda, which include January 2012 payroll and disbursements, donations, and the minutes of its January meeting. It will also hear financial and tax reports.Campus and district reports will be presented, which include reports on Borger High School, Borger Intermediate School, and Gateway Elementary School, and athletics. Athletic Director Rusty Purser will present information on the UIL Reclassification – Realignment. The board will also hear an AESOP report under monthly reports.Enrollment for January 2012, the STAAR/EOC, and dates to review will be discussed under the superintendent’s report.Future agenda items will be discussed, which includes professional staff (evaluation and contracts).A time of open forum will be held for the public to discuss its views. Speakers are allowed five minutes, and the board cannot comment on items that are brought up in open forum.BISD school board members are Robert Bradley, president; Todd Harris, vice president; David Brandon, secretary; Elaine Feese, Dr. Kent Gray, Les Sharp, and Bill Myers.
