Area junior golfers invited to participate in drive, chip and putt competition

Youth golfers in the Texas Panhandle are invited to enter the Drive, Chip and Putt Championships (DCP). The free nationwide junior golf development competition is a joint initiative founded in 2013 by the Masters Tournament, United States Golf Association and the PGA of America.

The competition is aimed at growing the game by focusing on the three fundamental skills employed in golf. Aspiring junior golfers, both girls and boys ages 7-15, are offered the opportunity to play with their peers in qualifiers around the country. Participants who advance through local, sub-regional and regional qualifying in each age/gender category earn a place in the National Finals. The National Finals are conducted at the Augusta National Golf Club the Sunday before the 2017 Masters Tournament. The finals are televised live by the Golf Channel.

There are two local qualifiers. The first is Friday, July 1 in Amarillo at the Comanche Trail Golf Course. The second is Friday, July 15 in Midland at the Greentree Country Club. Registration is now open. To register visit
