Animal ordinance hearing to be set

Before passing an amended animal control ordinance, the City of Borger wants the input of the public.The Borger City Council will be acting to schedule a public hearing on Nov. 1, 2011, at 7 p.m. to allow public comment on the proposed ordinance.Those wanting to read the ordinance in its entirety can find it on the City of Borger web site at city council will consider introduction of the proposed animal control ordinance at its regularly scheduled meeting on Nov. 15, 2011. Edwards said the council’s consideration on final approval of the ordinance is tentatively scheduled for Dec. 6, 2011.People with any suggestions, comments, or concerns can contact Animal Control Supervisor Betsy Parks at the City of Borger Animal Shelter or at 806-273-0973 during normal business hours.In other business, the council will act to establish an account for the construction and perpetual care of the 9-11 memorial, an Operation Facelift for structure(s) located at 116-120 West Grand (Lot 35-39, Block 12, Isom Addition), and an interlocal agreement from the Panhandle Regional Planning Commission for 9-1-1 service and PSAP equipment.Action will be taken on meeting minutes from the council’s first regular October meeting, and expenditures for the first half of October.A time for questions and comments from citizens will be held. Citizens who have indicated their desire to speak to the City Council will be heard at this time. In compliance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, unless the subject matter is on the agenda, City Council members are prevented from acting on the subject and may respond only with statements of factual information or existing city policy; however, City Council members may refer the person making the comment to a staff member or request city staff to place the subject matter on the future open meeting agenda. Citizens are limited to three (3) minutes for their presentation to the City Council.
