Amarillo City Animal Shelter at capacity

Staff Writer

The animal population at the City’s shelter is beyond capacity, putting many animals at risk of euthanasia. Amarillo Animal Management & Welfare (AAM&W) strives to reunite pets with their owners and return each animal to their “purrfect” family. Due to the amount of pets, AAM&W is waiving all reclaim fees through the end of business day Monday, March 21. This does not include rabies shots, microchipping and any associated medical bills incurred on the animal’s behalf.

The shelter is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. Visit to view pictures of animals currently in the City’s care, or visit the shelter at 3501 S. Osage.
