Dumas Demons win season opener against Borger

On Tuesday afternoon, the Dumas Demons scored 18 runs in the final three innings to get a 21-6 win over the Borger Bulldogs in the 2012 season opener at Huber Park.
The mixture of six errors and nine walks, to go along with 16 Demon hits, proved to be a costly combination for the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs got off to a solid start in the first inning, with senior pitcher Garth Payton striking out all three batters in the top of the inning. Ben Sharp gave Borger a 1-0 on fielder’s choice in the bottom of the first inning.

Frank Phillips College Plainsmen rally to beat Garden City, 7-5

On Tuesday afternoon, the Frank Phillips College Plainsmen scored four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to get the comeback win over the Garden City Community College Roughriders, 7-5.
The Roughriders started the game with Desmond Roberts hitting a lead-off triple followed by Brad Michaleski hitting an RBI single to make it a 0-1 score.
The Roughriders added one more run in the top of the first inning on a RBI single by Zac Baldini to give them a 0-2 lead.

First half struggles help NMMI beat Frank Phillips, 99-88

On Monday night, the Frank Phillips College Plainsmen opened their game with the New Mexico Military Institute (NMMI) Broncos building a 16-2 lead by the 15:10 mark. But shooting woes and losing the rebound battle, in the final 12 minutes of the first half, allowed NMMI to comeback to take the lead and force the Plainsmen to play catch up throughout the second half, as NMMI got the 99-88 win in WJCAC play.

Bombs Away, three pointers help Frank Phillips top Clarendon College, 84-64

There are some teams in basketball who live or die by the three point shot and on Monday evening the Frank Phillips College Lady Plainsmen were a team that was playing with that mindset. At the BCAC, Lady Plainsmen was a team who used the three point shot to carry them to an 84-64 win over the Clarendon College Lady Bulldogs in non-conference action.
The Lady Plainsmen were an on fire team from outside nailing 16 three-pointers in the game, including 11 in the first half.
