Officers made contact with Keith Brittain and  female on this call. Parties were separated and a criminal trespass warning was issued to Brittain. Brittain was released from the scene as no charges were filed at the time of this incident. At approximately 2:53 am, the female from the above incident contacted Officer’s and said that she was receiving unwanted contacted via phone from Brittain. Officers responded and told Brittain via phone to cease contact with the female. At approximately 3:24 am, the female called dispatch and stated she received a message through social media from Brittain showing an apparent desire to harm himself. Officer responded to Brittain’s last known address and contacted a negotiator while on the way. Upon arrival, two Officers observed Brittain in the front yard holding a handgun. A perimeter was established and EMS was asked to stage in the area. Officers attempted to reason with Brittain via telephone, however he was not receptive. Brittain then shot himself in the chest and shortly thereafter medical aid was given. Brittain was transported to Golden Plains Community Hospital where he succumbed to his injury.     Lt.
