Even though summer is still a few months away, things continue to remain busy at the Johnson Park Youth Center in Borger.
Annadon Keys, JPYC director, said right now they are getting all of the measurements sent in for new slides and are hoping to have these in by the end of April at the latest.
“The slides are going to be a huge asset to our swimming pool this year,” she said. “They have stairs, so everyone, children and adults, can enjoy them. The new slides will also give our park recreation children something new to enjoy at the swimming pool.”
She said the center will have one rule that will be enforced very strictly on the slides. A child must be 48 inches tall to be able to go down the new slides. Children will be measured at the front office so the center can make sure of their correct height.
“If the child is not 48 inches tall, we will put a red wristband on them, so all the guards will know that they are not tall enough to go down the slides and should be with a parent or guardian at least 18 years of age,” Keys said. “The height regulation is mandated by the company the city purchased the slide from.”
