This past Saturday, Dec. 8, two members of the BISD Choral Arts Department traveled to Amarillo Caprock for the third in the annual series of auditions towards the Texas All-State Choir which is held in San Antonio in early February. Students from all choral departments in the Texas Panhandle from 1A schools to 5A traveled to compete at Caprock High School for a spot in the Pre-Area Choir.
To be eligible for this elite group of singers, the students had to prepare three additional pieces (following the six they have already prepared) and be ready to sing them for a panel of five judges in eight section categories. All students had to sight-read as well. The Borger Choral Department, continuing a superior success rate each year, placed one student in the Pre-Area Choir for 2012 and one alternate. This choir is made up of only the top five students in each section Soprano 1 through Bass 2. The students will travel to Abilene the second weekend of January to compete for a spot in the Texas All-State Choir and will be going head-to-head, not only with the kids from Region I which is the Texas Panhandle area, but also 3 other Regions - Wichita Falls, Abilene, and Dallas
Alto I, Senior – Soozee Kim-2nd Alternate
Alto II, Junior-Becca Green-1st Chair
Congratulations to these fine choral students and their superior display of Borger Talent!!
