James (Jim) Leroy Richardson, 65, of Amarillo, Texas, died Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, in Amarillo. A memorial service was held Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Stinnett, Texas, with Pastor Tim Hall officiating.
Jim was born Oct. 17, 1948, in Kansas City, Mo., to Harold and Nancy Kates.
Survivors include five children, Jason and wife Amber Richardson of Borger, Texas; Mark and wife Jessica Richardson of Stinnett, Texas; Justin and wife Krissy Richardson of Waco, Texas; Jared and Jacob Richardson of Panhandle, Texas; one granddaughter Brianna Richardson of Stinnett, nephews, Danny and wife Susie Sims, Rusty and wife Chanté Sims, all of Stinnett, Texas, Jeff and Shawn Walton of Amarillo; niece Andrea and husband Neil Mayhew, also of Amarillo; two sisters, Sue Costley and Margie Richardson of Amarillo; one brother Terry Richardson of Amarillo.
He was preceded in death by his father Harold Kates and mother Nancy Richardson.
Jim was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a truck driver for many years. Jim loved high school football and he loved running the chains at football games. He coached youth sports in the area and helped promote cross country running in the West Texas School system. He was a dedicated West Texas High School booster. He was involved in the Hutchinson County 4-H program. He also loved to hunt.
Celebration of his life was memorialized Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, 2 p.m., First Baptist Church in Stinnett, Texas.
