It is hard to believe that Thanksgiving is a week away now. It got me to thinking about the different ways God has blessed my life, and I am truly thankful for His continued provision.
•The gift of salvation – I am so thankful for the gift of salvation God gave me on Aug. 27, 1988, when I made the decision to follow Him. It has definitely been a learning process the entire way, but God has been so faithful, so loving, and so amazing through it all. He has carried me through some difficult times that have not been easy, but I think that can be said of the life of any believer. His grace, mercy, and love are new every morning, and I am truly thankful for them! I cannot begin to express how much I love Him not only for what He’s done for me, but simply for who He is.
•My wonderful husband – I know I have written numerous times about how much I love my husband, but I honestly can’t say it enough. I believe with all of my heart that God brought him into my life at the absolute perfect time. He complements me in every way, challenges me to look at life at different ways, has held me through some very rough spots, and never fails to tell me how much he loves me every day. He works hard to provide for our family, and truly has a heart for the Lord and for serving Him. I truly am thankful to know he is walking this thing called life with me. I couldn’t imagine having anyone else by my side. I love him more than he will probably ever know.
•My parents – When I look at different parts of my life now, I can truly see how they were shaped by my parents. My work ethic, the way I make decisions, the way I look at life, the way I treat others, my very faith in the Lord, those were things that my parents played a vital part in shaping throughout my life. Even though I am an adult now and on my own, I know my parents are always in my corner, 100 percent. They are always in prayer for me and let me know constantly how much I am loved. I am also thankful to know that after over 36 years together, their love is stronger than ever. They are a shining example to me, and I love and respect them more with every passing day.
•My in-laws – I am truly thankful to have married into such a wonderful family. My in-laws are some of the godliest people I know. From the time Rusty and I started dating and I met his parents, they made me feel welcome from the get-go. I still remember going to a family reunion with Rusty when we were engaged, but not yet married. Even though I wasn’t technically in the family yet, they invited me to take part in everything that took place that day. That has always stuck with me. I love getting to spend time with them, visiting with them, and sharing life with them. Better yet, I love them both for the godly and wonderful people that they are.
•My sister and her family – My sister has been one of my best friends throughout my entire life and one of my strongest prayer warriors. She truly has a heart for the Lord and for her family. Her husband, my brother-in-law, is a cancer survivor, and is using that platform as a means of sharing his faith with other people. He is truly an example to me. They also have two wonderful children, my sweet niece and nephew, who bring light, love, and laughter to my life every time I am with them. Since we live a little ways apart, I don’t get to see them as much I wish I could, but I am thankful for the times we do have. I love all of them with all of my heart.
•My sister-in-law, brother-in-law, and my nephew – My sister-in-law and brother-in-law and nephew have truly been examples of God’s grace, strength, and love through some difficult times. My nephew has an ongoing battle with Tourette syndrome that he has to fight every day, and I have seen the strain it has had on him and his family. However, I have also seen them lean on the Lord like they never have before. They trust Him with everything in their lives, and believe He is in complete control, regardless of the circumstances they have to battle. I only hope they know the example they have been to me. We also have shared some wonderful times together, and I count myself blessed to call them family. I love them all very much!
Watch for part two next week!
