Borger High School varsity cheerleader Brooke West will be one of more than 600 high school cheerleaders from across the U.S. who will be performing in the 86th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
The individuals invited to perform in the parade qualified for the trip after being selected as an All American Cheerleader at one of the summer camps hosted by Universal Cheerleaders Association, National Cheerleaders Association, or United Spirit Association. All American Cheerleaders are selected to try out based on superior cheerleading skills at camps across the country. Only the top 12% of the cheerleaders who attend varsity summer camps earn the chance to march in the holiday spectacular. In addition to performing in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, the All American Cheerleaders will have the chance to tour New York during their seven-day trip. They will have the opportunity to attend a Broadway musical, visit the Empire State Building, and the Statue of Liberty.
Brooke will be accompanied in New York by her very proud parents, Brandon and Laurie West, her sister Breanna West, and her grandparents, Wayne and Denise Kelly.
Brooke is a senior at Borger High School and has been a cheerleader for the past three years. She is also a member of the National Honor Society and T.A.F.E. After graduation, Brooke plans to attend college and major in Elementary Education. Brooke plans to return to Borger and teach kindergarten.
The parade will air on Thanksgiving Day from 9:00am until noon, eastern time. NBC will be the only network to air the cheerleaders’ performance.
Congratulations, Brooke, on this great honor. Borger is proud of you!
