Several events are scheduled over Veterans Day weekend and Monday to honor military veterans, those serving in the armed forces.
Also, several restaurants have announced special deals for military families.
Lorene’s Mexican Kitchen, 1600 N. Main, will provide free meals for active military and veterans on Saturday, November 10, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. IDs must be presented proving present or past military service. Golden Plains Community Hospital's Hilltop Bistro , 100 Medical Drive, will honor the service, dedication, and sacrifice of veterans and military personnel by serving lunch or breakfast at no charge on Monday, Nov. 12.. Breakfast is from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and lunch is served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
They will be serving spaghetti with tomato beef sauce, hot pork roast sandwiches, mashed potatoes, seasoned broccoli, fried okra, seasoned bread sticks, tossed salad with assorted dressing, fruit bowls, buttermilk or caramel apple pie, pumpkin chiffon, and a beverage of one's choice.
Crockett and Gateway Elementary schools will be honoring our country’s veterans on Monday, Nov. 12, 2012. Gateway’s ceremony will be at 9 a.m. and Crockett’s ceremony will be at 1 p.m. Both ceremonies will be held in the Borger Elementary Cafeteria. All Veterans and community members are invited to come help thank our country’s heroes. On this day, students and community members are encouraged to wear red, white, and/or blue.
