Get your spoon and fork ready and your taste buds fired up - the First Annual Borger News-Herald Taste of Hutchinson County opens its doors to the public tonight at 6 p.m. and stays that way until 8 p.m.
Nineteen restaurants are signed up and ready to serve you the finest examples of their cuisine and drinks. They are: Bennigans; Borger Country Club; Budweiser; Buffalo Grass; Caprock Winery; Hilltop Bistro at Golden Plains Community Hospital; Great Plains Western Dining; Kentucky Fried Chicken; Lone Star Restaurant; and McDonald’s.
Also, Mr. Treat Donuts; Old Sutphens Bar-B-Q; Onions; Paradise Roadside Cafe; Pizza Duo; Sonic Drive-In; Spuds Sports Grill; Subway of Borger; The Plaza; United Supermarkets Deli; XXL Steakranch; Misty Taylor’s Chocolate Fountain; and Carol Henderson’s Juice Bar.
Other booths at the event are: the Vietnam Veterans; French & Co. Realtors; Anytime Fitness; AdvoCare; Hutchinson County Museum and Wells Fargo Bank.
VIP tables have been reserved for companies and individuals who will be allowed entry at 5:30 p.m. Pre-sold single ticket holders may enter at 6 p.m. and may be purchased any time today prior to the event.
Tickets may also be purchased tonight at the door. Adult tickets are $25 per person and children may eat for $6 each. The Taste is come and go.
Each restarateur will offer samples of their cuisine as diners make the rounds at the booths. Examples range from steak to sandwiches to chicken nuggets - the variety of foods is extensive.

Event organizer, Stephanie Hooper, said, “This is going to be an exciting night for area residents. We encourage everyone to come on out and sample all the different foods.”
A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Borger Satellite Workshop. BSW clients will be on hand as volunteers throughout the event as will some of the Borger News-Herald staff.
