Melba Colleen Hamilton was born July 2, 1930 in Amarillo Texas to Samuel Eugene and Mary Pearl Morris.
Melba attended schools in Amarillo through her junior year of high school at Amarillo High. She moved to Borger, Texas and graduated from Borger High School in 1948. She received her secretarial certification from Texas Women’s University in Denton.
Melba married William Hamilton on April 23, 1951. One year later daughter Becky Lynn was born. In 1953 son William David was born. They were then transferred to Bartlesville, Oklahoma where daughter Mary Kay was born in 1960. Later they returned to Borger where all 3 of her children graduated from Borger High School.
Melba was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church. She was active in United Methodist Women and a quilters group. She was a true homemaker and very gifted at sewing and various crafts. They lived in Borger until 1979 when Bill was transferred to Denver, Colorado. They retired to Cuchara, Colorado and then moved again in1991 to Kerrville, Texas. After her husband’s death in 2008 she remained in Kerrville until 2011. She then moved to Eastland, Texas to be near family.
Melba was preceded in death by her Mother and Father, Pearl and Sam Morris, brother Gene Morris, and husband Bill Hamilton.
She is survived by her daughter Becky Lynn Henshaw and husband Rod from Des Moines, Iowa,
Buzz Hamilton and wife Deborah from Fairfield, Texas and their daughter Darbi Hamilton of The Woodlands, Texas, and youngest daughter Mary Kay Williamson and Husband John from Cisco, Texas and their two sons Samuel of San Angelo, Texas , and Sean of Cisco,Texas. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Marlene Morris or Amarillo, Texas and many cousins and some very special nieces and nephews.
