It is time again to bash that trash!
The City of Borger's Fall Trash Bash is set for the week of Oct. 1-6, 2012, and the city needs the help of citizens to clean up the community.
Once again, the city is sponsoring the free week for county residents to bring their trash to the transfer station. Tire disposal for residential customers will not have a limit during this week.
Kathie Harber of the City of Borger said that Beverly Benton and Crystal Irvin of the Chamber of Commerce are helping again this year and have several ads running to help get the word out to the public.
“They work hard getting the message out to the citizens,” she said.
Harber said the city is hoping for good weather all week and a record amount of trash to be collected.
“The City appreciates the help from the volunteers taking time out of their busy lives to give back to the community,” she said.
She also said if citizens know of someone that needs community service hours, the trash bash would be a great project for them.
The Texas Department of Transportation is furnishing the heavy duty white “Don't Mess With Texas” trash bags. City employees will deliver trash bags to citizens the week before. Those wanting the trash bags need to call Harber before Sept. 26, 2012, to let her know what area their team would like to adopt and how many trash bags will be needed.
The transfer station and tree limb disposal area will each be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday of the trash bash week.
Those with any questions can call Harber at City Hall at 273-0908, David Arthur at the transfer station at 273-0977, or Benton at the Chamber of Commerce at 274-2211.
