On Monday afternoon, the Frank Phillips College Board of Regents accepted the resignation of Dr. Ed Quiros. Quiros has served on the FPC Board of Regents since 1992, where he has been reelected to the position four times.
During Monday’s Board of Regents meeting, Board Chair Conny Moore read Quiros’ resignation letter, in which the doctor described his time on the board as an honor and a privilege.
Other board members present expessed their gratitude to Dr. Quiros for serving as a board member, with Moore saying, “The board appreciates the many years you have served and the contribution you made to the college.”
Also in Monday’s meeting, the board accepted two donations from ConocoPhillips Exploration and Production Panhandle/Anadarko Operations equaling $2,500.
A $1,500 donation was given to the FPC Nursing Department, which will be used for classroom items for students.
The second donation was for $1,000, which was given to the college’s Beef Cattle Enterprise Project and will be used to purchase materials needed to fence the south property line.
FPC President Dr. Jud Hicks told the board that the college has signed a three-year building lease in Hereford to be used for cosmetology classes.
Classes in Hereford are expected to start on August 27th with the goal of having 20 students enroll.
