On Friday the Borger Bulldogs and Frank Phillips College Plainsmen will square off in important games for both teams.
The Bulldogs will travel to Pampa to take on the Pampa Harvesters in the final District 1-3A game for both teams. Both the Bulldogs and Harvesters have secured playoff berths, but the winner of the district finale will claim second place in District 1-3A. Entering the weekend, the playoff opponents for Borger and Pampa appear to be Lubbock Estacado or Levelland from District 2-3A. The Bulldogs and Harvesters split their first two games between each other. The first pitch at Harvester Field is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
The Bulldogs wrap up the 2012 regular season on Saturday traveling to Amarillo to take on the Randall Raiders at Randall High School beginning at noon.
With eight games left in WJCAC play, the Plainsmen sit four games behind Western Texas College for fourth place in the WJCAC standings. The top four teams in the WJCAC qualify for the Region V Tournament, making the final two weeks very important for the Plainsmen.
The good news is the Plainsmen can put their post-season hopes in their own hands as Western Texas comes to Borger this weekend. The two teams will battle in a four game series beginning with a doubleheader starting at noon on Friday. The final two games of the series will begin on noon on Saturday.
