After splitting the first two games of the series on Friday, the Frank Phillips College Plainsmen and El Paso Community College finished their four game series at a draw by splitting the final two games on Saturday. The Plainsmen opened Saturday getting a 10-0 win but cooled off as El Paso took the final game of the series, 5-0.
In the first Saturday game, the Plainsmen scored two runs in the first inning. But it would be the fourth inning where the Plainsmen pulled away by scoring six runs on their way to forcing the 10-run rule after the fifth inning.
Alfonso Aguilar had the big bat in the game by hitting a double and driving in three RBIs.
Sam Martin got the shutout win on the mound by giving up just five hits over five innings.
In the second game on Saturday, the Plainsmen bats cooled off by failing to bring in a run in the 5-0 loss.
El Paso struck early by scoring four of their runs by the third inning.
Sterling Kiper got the loss on the mound for the Plainsmen.
The Plainsmen go to 14-20 overall and 8-8 in WJCAC play.
This weekend the Plainsmen will host their first WJCAC series since March 4th when they welcome Clarendon College for a key four-game series beginning at noon on Friday.
The Plainsmen currently sit in fifth place in the WJCAC standings, one game behind Western Texas College and Clarendon College, who are tied for third place. The top four teams from the WJCAC advance to the Region V Tournament in May.
