A sentencing date has been set for Amy Fernandez.
Ordered by Judge Mary Lou Robinson, on Monday, Feb. 27, 2012, Fernandez’s sentencing date is set for Wednesday, Feb.29, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. in the U.S. Courthouse, 2nd Floor Courtroom, 205 E. 5th St., Amarillo, TX before Judge Robinson.
On Monday, Nov. 21, 2011, it was confirmed by sources involved with the case that Amy Fernandez pleaded guilty for one account of evading the reporting requirements and the regulations issued thereunder, structure, attempt to structure, and attempted to assist in structuring currency transactions with one or more domestic financial institutions.
She has been accused of purchasing 39 cashier’s checks with United States currency in amounts of $3,000 or less pertaining to the structuring.
The maximum statutory penalty for the structuring offense is five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
