On Saturday afternoon, the Frank Phillips College Plainsmen baseball team won the final two games in their four game series with Luna Community College, 15-5 and 7-6.
In game one on Saturday, Luna appeared to be on their way to getting the win by holding a 5-0 lead through four innings. But in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Plainsmen bats came alive to bring in 14 runs, leading to the team getting the run-rule win after six innings.
Plainsmen sophomore infielder Cesar Wong had a big game, hitting two doubles and collecting six RBI’s.
Freshman lefty Brad Wieck got the win on the pitcher’s mound for Frank Phillips.
In game two on Saturday, the Plainsmen had to hold off a late seventh inning rally by Luna to hang on for the 7-6 win.
Wong continued to have the hot bat in game two, hitting two more doubles and bringing in three RBI’s.
Freshman lefty Kyle Hooker got the win on the mound, while freshman Gerard Rodriguez got the save.
The Plainsmen start the 2012 season 3-1 and will next travel to Lubbock for a four game series with #3 Howard College on Thursday and Friday.
