On Tuesday evening, the trip over to Canadian proved to not be very enjoyable for the basketball teams from West Texas High, with the Canadian Wildcats and Lady Wildcats getting the varsity sweep in District 1-1A basketball action.
In the girls’ game, the Lady Wildcats came out running by opening the game with a 22-1 run on their way to getting the 67-7 win over the Lady Comanches.
Canadian’s Autumn Chidester had a big game by leading all scorers with 33 points.
The loss drops the Lady Comanches to 0-4 in district play, 7-17 overall, while Canadian improves to 3-1 in district and 19-6 overall.
In the boys’ game, the Wildcats opened the game building a 21-7 lead and caused the Comanches to have to play catch up the remainder of the evening.
Unfortunately, a comeback win was not going to happen as Canadian won 56-32.
Alex Ramirez led the Comanches scoring 11 points, followed by Ty Lay putting in six.
Brennan Bowman scored 21 for Canadian.
The loss drops the Comanches to 1-2 in district play and 16-7 overall. Canadian continues to be a surprise team in 1A this season, improving to 3-0 in district play and 15-4 overall.
West Texas High will look to rebound tomorrow evening hosting Stratford with the girls beginning at 6:30 p.m., followed by the boys at 8:00 p.m.
