On Friday evening the Sanford-Fritch Eagles opened District 1-2A play with a loss on the road to the Spearman Lynx.
A slow, scoreless start for the Eagles left them trailing without a score in the first quarter.
The Eagles didn’t score until the clock read 7:05 in second quarter.
Senior Chris Bryan, point leader with 13, was the first one to give the Eagles a bucket.
Shots were hard to fall for both Spearman and Sanford-Fritch. Halftime Spearman led 21-6.
The rest of the game was a physical matchup and Sanford-Fritch tried their best to get back in the game.
Great steals and blocks from Colton Valle and Chris Bryan helped the Eagles edge closer to the Lynx. Third quarter ended with Spearman ahead 28-13. The Sanford-Fritch Eagles went on a 7-19 run in the fourth thanks to Junior Trey Henry plays and free-throws.
But Sanford-Fritch didn’t have enough clock and lost 39-32.
They have a long weekend before the Falcons of Bushland roll into town on Tuesday. That game should be a tough assignment for the Eagles.
