Rosalind (Lobdill) Roland Gluss, 98, died peacefully on Sunday, December 4, 2011 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio-Toledo from congestive heart failure. Rosalind was born in Van Buren, AR on June 5, 1913 to Clyde Franklin and Nelle Marie (Rosebrough) Lobdill.
She graduated from Van Buren High School and St. Edward’s Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Ft. Smith, AR and did private duty nursing in both Arkansas and Oklahoma.
She married Charles H. Roland February 4, 1944 in Bartlesville, OK. The family lived in both Phillips and Borger, TX until Phillips Petroleum Co. moved its R & D plant to Toledo, OH in June 1971. Charles died October 30, 1979. She is survived by children, Robert Charles Roland (Jennifer) of Amarillo, TX and Carol Roland King (Ross) of Ft. Worth, TX. and brother, Bill Lobdill of Allen, TX.
Her parents, brothers, Oren and Clyde Lobdill, and sisters, Mary Lobdill Claybough and Lucille Lobdill Doty all preceded her in death.
On November 20, 1981 she married Rudolph August Gluss in Toledo, OH. Rudy died January 3, 1997. Surviving is daughter, Nancy Lee Atkins (Charles) of Toledo, OH.
Also surviving are 4 granddaughters, 4 grandsons, 12 great grandchildren and several special nieces and nephews.
Rosalind was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church-Toledo and volunteered with Mobile Meals and Lutheran Home at Toledo.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, December 18, 2011 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 428 N. Erie St., Toledo, OH.
Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hospice of Northwest Ohio or The Woodlands of Sunset Retirement Community.
