Thursday evening, the Frank Phillips College Lady Plainsmen basketball team improved to 2-0 for the season, after defeating Lubbock Christian University JV 77-42 in Lubbock.
The Lady Plainsmen began the game by going on a 25-0 run to help them build a 42-16 lead by halftime.
Lady Plainsmen Head Coach Eric Rodewald was impressed with his team's start, saying, “We were firing on all cylinders out of the gate and cooled off a little bit as the game progressed.”
Rodewald added, “Our post really stepped up and played well.”
Lady Plainsmen post players Amira Sallie and Destiny Phillips combined for 23 points in the win.
As a team, the Lady Plainsmen did a good job shooting on the floor hitting nine three's and going 18 for 21 from the free throw line.
Sophomore Kinjita Kelley had four three pointers in the game and went 7-7 from the free throw line, as she led the team in scoring with 19 points.
The Lady Plainsmen continue their road trip on Friday, taking on Wayland Baptist JV in Plainview beginning at 4:00 p.m.
