The Borger Lady Bulldogs didn’t have long to celebrate their 3A Bi-District playoff round win over Lamesa on Tuesday. The team has to swing back around and travel to Seminole tonight to take on the Clint Lady Lions in the 3A Area playoff round.
Borger Interim Head Coach Ken Barbour was pleased with the team’s performance, saying, “Lamesa has a style that can get a team out of sync. However, our defense adapted easily and allowed our offense to put the ball on the floor for many impressive kills.”
Barbour added that his team did a good job at the service line, which included collecting 12 aces.
Clint enters tonight as the District 3-3A champs where they posted a perfect district record. Gaging the Lady Lions may be difficult, since the team has yet to play a match outside of the El Paso area.
However, Barbour isn’t taking Clint for granted, saying, “They are a good team. Clint is supposed to be outstanding on defense, which should make for long rallies. We will have to be sharp on offense.”
The winner of the Borger/Clint match will play the winner of the Pampa/Monahans match. So the potential for some interesting story lines are there if the Lady Bulldogs advance tonight.
Tonight’s match with Clint gets underway at 7:00 p.m. at Seminole High School
