Over the weekend, the Borger High School Boys and Girls Golf teams were busy hitting the links in tournament play in Dumas and here in Borger.
The Borger girls hosted a one round triangular tournament at the Phillips Course, drawing1 1 schools from around the Texas Panhandle.
The Borger “Red” team was paired with Hereford and Gruver, where the Lady Bulldogs finished with the top score of the group shooting a 360. Hereford shot a 371 followed by Gruver with a 398.
Clarice Myers had the low score for the “Red” team shooting an 87. Other “Red” team scores were Haley Montoya 89, Trinity McCarty 89, Hali Southall 95, Morgan Brown 102.
The Borger “White” team paired up with Amarillo Caprock and had no trouble winning the head-to-head with a team score of 397 while Caprock scored 464.
Madison Vidrine and Darrah Blassingane led the “White” team each shooting a 97. Other “White” team scores were Jessica Lowery 99, Amanda Valdivir 104, Moriah Holmes 112.
Other Borger girls scores from Saturday were Hillary Garcia 110, Shay Comer 122, and Bailee Mikles 122.
Randall had the best overall team score for the tournament shooting a 331, followed by the Amarillo High JV with a 354. The Borger “Red” team finished in third overall.
The Borger Boys golf team took part in a two day tournament, finishing in fourth place overall behind Randall, Plainview, and Dumas.
In round one, Borger posted a 323 but was able to bounce back to fire a 309 in the second round for a two round total of 632.
On his team’s performance, Borger Boys Golf Coach Clinton Grange commented, “The boys first round was tough with the wind and cold temps on Friday morning but they still managed to grind out a decent round. Saturday, we came out and played great turning four scores in the 70s.
I was happy to see all the boys come together and all post good scores on the second day. I feel like we are getting better each week.”
The Borger boys scores for the Dumas Tournament were: Dylan Coffer 74 77 151, Tyler Sosebee 83 74 157, Billy Haynes 81 79 160, Taylor Blewett 85 79 164, Kaylor Chatwell 87 87 174.
