The West Texas Lady Comanches volleyball team is on a roll. They took down the Lady Dragons from Paducah in three 25-17, 25-13, and 25-18, to remain a perfect 5-0 in District play. They maintained control in the first two sets, even though they briefly trailed in the first. The second was all WT as they led all the way through. They trailed most of the third, once by as much as six points, but tied the score at 11, 12, 13, and 14, before they fell behind again. After tying the score at 17, they took control and won it.
The girls did an outstanding job of controlling every aspect of the game when they had to. Their net play is impressive with Cheyenne Tull, Sarah Kelley, and Natalie Franklin. The hustle exhibited “digging the ball off the floor” is impressive. The team just hustles at every position.
Tull led the team in Kills with twelve. Kelly got nine and Franklin had seven. The girls also did a great job at the net blocking some strong hits by the Lady Dragons. Tull came up with ten blocks, Kelly had five, and so did Devin Delapp. The Summers sisters Abby and Erin had stellar performances as setters. Abby led with fifteen and Erin had ten.
One of the key reasons for their success is the hustle by the girls keeping the ball off the floor. Bekah Wallace led the team in Digs with twenty-five. Alyssa Snider came up with twenty and Rachel Wallace got thirteen. The Summers girls are also tough to return a serve against. Abby had three Aces and Erin had two. Kelly also served three aces.
The Lady Tribe started the second half of District play with this game, and their next game is Saturday in Ft. Elliott.
