Over the past couple of years, one of the best rivalries within the WJCAC has been found on the volleyball court between the Frank Phillips College Lady Plainsmen and the New Mexico Military Institute (NMMI) Lady Broncos.
After Wednesday evening, the rivalry appears to still be going strong as the two teams squared off in a great five game match in Roswell, N.M., where the Lady Plainsmen came away with the win 25-18, 19-25, 21-25, 25-20, 15-13.
Wednesday’s meeting proved to be a big contrast to the team’s first meeting this season back on August 26th, when the Lady Broncos won in three straight games.
However, Lady Plainsmen Head Volleyball Coach Ashley Dyer went into Wednesday’s contest knowing her team has come a long way since the first match and the results in Roswell proved it.
The win by the Lady Plainsmen improves their 2011 season record to 11-6 overall and 1-1 in WJCAC play. This weekend, the team will travel to Hutchinson, Kan. to play four matches before playing their next match at home on Monday, September 26th against Lubbock Christian JV at 7:00 p.m.
The Lady Plainsmen next WJCAC match will take place next Wednesday, September 28th in Snyder against Western Texas College.
