On Wednesday afternoon, Randall Raider Head Coach Bryan Wood shared a couple of his thoughts on tonight’s game between his team and the Borger Bulldogs.
Wood is entering his third year as the Raiders’ coach, where he led the team to a 9-3 record last year.
On his approach for the Raiders going into tonight, Wood said, “I think every coach has a similar perspective regarding early games. Don’t turn it over, have limited penalties, and win the special teams.”
Like the Bulldogs, the Raiders have several players making their varsity debuts tonight. Due to his teams’ inexperience, Wood said, “We have a lot of question marks on defense because we lost so many starters. Hopefully, our offense will be productive early, while our defense is maturing.”
Despite early turnovers that ultimately doomed the Bulldogs in the Raiders 35-28 win last season, the two teams appeared to be evenly matched and the same is expected tonight.
Wood has a lot of respect for several of the Bulldog players and the team’s defense saying, “Borger’s skills guys are impressive. Ty Brown is a very talented running back and we know that it will be difficult to slow him down. The Bulldog defense looks very stingy as well.” Wood added, “I’m sure that it will be a very physical game.”
The Raiders and Bulldogs kickoff tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Bulldog Stadium.
