The Stinnett Birthday Celebration is set for next week!
The event, in its 85th year, has a theme of “Mardi Gras On The Plains,” and will be held Aug. 8-13.
On Wednesday, Aug. 10, Community Church and an ice cream social will be held starting at 6 p.m.
On Friday, Aug. 12, a community watermelon and hot dog picnic will be held at 6 p.m., and the Booster Club Beach Volleyball Tournament will kick off at 6:30 p.m. Those wishing to participate in the volleyball tournament need to contact Angela Hoff at 898-0825.
Also on Friday, Kids Games will take place at 7 p.m. and the Dance Steps Studio Competition Team will perform at 8 p.m.
Booths will open at 9 a.m. Saturday, with the parade line-up at H&H Credit Union starting at 10 a.m.
The parade will begin at 11 a.m. and the booster club beach volleyball tournament will continue at 12 p.m. The McCormick House will also be open for visitors throughout the day.
The evening’s activities will include with a street dance from 9 p.m. to 12 a.m. featuring the Mike Chism Hollow Point Band.
City Secretary Jocelyn Perez said that City Hall will be assisting as far as registration forms and collecting funds.
However, for the most part, everything will be handled through the Stinnett Community Development Corporation as it is now the main sponsor of the event.
Entry forms will are available for booth space and the parade.
