The Hutchinson County United Way has a full slate of projects for its upcoming Day of Caring. Now all it needs is volunteers to make those projects happen.
This year’s event is set for Sept. 17, 2011. Teri Hogue of the HCUW said the organization has had a great response and is now looking for volunteers to work these requests.
“Volunteers are needed and will be put into teams to work together for this one day,” she said.
Those who volunteer for the Day of Caring will be working on projects that involve home repairs, wheelchair ramps, the cleaning of gutters, winterizing homes for the elderly or disabled, painting, yard cleanup, housekeeping, and carpentry and odd jobs.
“The Day of Caring is a day when volunteers choose to give their time and services to work on a one-time service project in an effort to impact our community’s needs with tasks that they are unable to perform themselves,” Hogue said.
She said this event is an opportunity to give the gift of time, and the Day of Caring is truly a time when volunteers understand that together, they do what matters and help to build a stronger community.
“Thank you for your partnership and dedication to Hutchinson County United Way and to the community,” Hogue said. “Let’s all give back to the community that is so good to us.”
