On Tuesday evening, Borger High School senior J’Cee Pool was selected as the 2010-11 recipient of the E. J. Webb Award.
Qualifications to be nominated for the award include being an outstanding senior female athlete; exemplifying the highest moral character, behavior and leadership; regulating her actions at all times so that she will be a credit to the team, school, and community; and displaying good sportsmanship at all times by being modest in victory and gracious in defeat.
The E.J. Webb award is named after longtime Borger Coach E.J. (Jeep) Webb.
E.J. Webb graduated from Tulia High School and went on to play basketball and football in Canyon at West Texas State. He has coached at various towns in the panhandle and has been in Borger since 1966. While at Borger High School he has coached football, track, cross country, and girls’ basketball.
He is currently active in working many track and field meets across the United States and still drives many of the athletic teams to their contests and is very interested in their achievements.
Coach Webb has been and always will be there for kids and always gives an encouraging word and asks that they give of their very best as young ladies and gentlemen.
The head coaches of each sport at Borger High School are able to nominate and vote for one athlete.
The other finalists for this year’s award included Alexie Fleming, Hannah Blakely, Madison Argo and Clara Saenz.
