After the big win over Follett on Friday, the West Texas High Comanches suffered a little bit of a let down on Monday afternoon, as the Boys Ranch Roughriders were able to out-slug their way to a 13-10 win in District 6-1A action.
Going into the top of the fourth inning, the Comanches rallied from being down a run to score three to take a 8-6 lead. Unfortunately, the Roughriders were able to respond back in the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings by scoring seven runs on their way to the win.
Several Comanche players had a solid game at the plate, including Jeremy O’Gorman going 4/4 with one RBI; Robert Sale 2/2 with two RBIs; Logan Hoff 3/5, and Terrence Bonds 2/4 one double with two RBI’s.
Alex Ramirez took the loss on the mound for West Texas by pitching four innings, giving up eight earned runs on seven hits, while striking out five Roughrider batters.
The loss drops the Comanches to 13-7 overall for the season and to 6-3 in the District 6-1A standings.
With one game to go in the regular season, the Comanches appear to be on their way to being the number two seed from the district once the 1A playoffs get underway next week.
The Comanches will try to wrap up the 2011 regular season with a win when they host the Shamrock Irish on Friday starting at 4:30 p.m.
