Over the past four years the Borger Little League Concession Stand, located in the center of the Agnes Howe Youth Baseball Complex, has fallen victim to burglary at least once a season.
This has resulted in the loss of money and food, along with damage to the concession stand that included a broken air conditioning unit in 2010.
This past Saturday, the concession stand once again was broken into and Borger Little League and the operators of the concession stand during the baseball season are asking for the community’s help in catching those responsible.
According to Julie Ellis, who has helped operate the concession stand over the past six years, sometime between early Saturday evening and Sunday morning the concession stand was broken into, resulting in the theft of several food items along with a small amount of cash.
Along with the theft, Ellis said a window in the building was broken out, the barbecue pit vandalized and fire crackers were set off in rest rooms of the building.
After her husband noticed the burglary on Sunday morning, Ellis said the Borger Police Department was contacted and now there are plans to have a surveillance system installed around the concession stand area.
This is with the hopes of keeping potential break-ins from taking place and/or to catch those that have been involved in the burglaries in the past.
Ellis is asking if anyone has information about this past weekend’s break in to please contact the Borger Police Department and said a reward will be given to those that provide information that leads to catching those responsible.
The Borger Police Department can be contacted at 273-0930.
