Officials are currently investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a three-month-old in Fritch.
The Hutchinson County Sheriff’s Office was contacted this morning for information on the investigation of what caused the death.
Deputies from the office responded to a call at a home in the Sanford Estates housing development on Tuesday night around 8:20 p.m. Upon arrival, they found the infant had died.
According to reports from Department of Public Safety spokesman Gabriel Medrano, preliminary autopsy results determine the child died from asphyxiation.
Deputy Durk Downs of the HCSO said, “It is still under investigation.” He would not release any further information.
Also, Hutchinson County Sheriff Guy Rowh released information to other media outlets, stating that there are some suspicious circumstances, but officials are investigating and holding several interviews to determine what officially caused the death of the infant. No charges have been filed.
All other information regarding names of the baby and parents or location of the death have not been released to media at this time.
Sheriff Rowh was not available for comment this morning.
