On Monday afternoon the Frank Phillips College Board of Regents appointed Dr. Jud Hicks as the college’s President at its monthly meeting, making permanent the position Dr. Hicks has held on an interim basis since December.
Dr. Hicks has been with FPC since 2002 and is the second generation of the Hicks family to lead Frank Phillips College. His father Dr. Andy Hicks served as the college’s president from 1981 to 1988.
He holds a B.B.A. in Accounting from WTAMU; an M.B.A. in Management from Wayland Baptist University; and an Ed.D. from Texas Tech University.
Also during Monday’s meeting, the Board of Regents approved the appointment of Dr. Shad Goldston and Tonya Moore to the two vacant board members positions where they will serve until the next regular election, May 2012, at which time they will have to file to run for a position on the Board.
Moore was appointed to fill the Spring Creek position on the Board of Regents that became vacated after the passing of Bill Cornelius.
The at-large position Dr. Goldston will fill came open due to the resignation from the board by Odis McClellan.
In Monday’s meeting, the Board of Regents accepted with regrets the resignation of Mr. Odis McClellan with FPC Board of Regents Chairman Conny Moore extending his thanks to Mr. McClellan for his service on the FPC Board.
Other action the Board of Regents approved on Monday included accepting the terms and conditions of a $50,000 grant from the Don and Sybil Harrington Foundation that will be used to help with the renovations to the Science Lab.
The board also accepted a donation of $5,000 from Provenance Consulting to the FPC Lady Plainsmen softball program to help in the program’s continuing work on the two softball fields.
