The Borger ISD board of trustees will be considering action on two new hires during its upcoming meeting this Thursday.
The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 14, 2011, in the board conference room of the Borger ISD Administration Building, 200 East Ninth.
The board will consider employment of a new high school principal and a new varsity basketball coach.
The new high school principal will replace current principal Tony McCarthy, who is taking an administrative position within the district, and the new varsity basketball coach will replace Lance Simpson, who was recently reassigned within the Borger Athletic Department.
Also under personnel matters, the board will consider action on resignations, the superintendent’s recommendations regarding employment, and substitutes to review.
In other business, the board will take action on Policy Update 89, affecting (LOCAL) policies. Policies to be considered include the following:
•Safety Program/Risk Management - Accident Prevention and Reports
•Individualized Learning - Credit by Examination with Prior Instruction
•Individualized Learning - Credit by Examination without Prior Instruction
•Individualized Learning - Correspondence Courses
•Alternative Methods for Earning Credit - Credit by Examination with Prior Instruction
•Alternative Methods for Earning Credit - Credit by Examination without Prior Instruction
•Alternative Methods for Earning Credit - College Course Work/Dual Credit
•Alternative Methods for Earning Credit - Distance Learning
The board will act on budget amendments, the sale of a bus, the salvage of a bus, a resolution to join Region 16 TexBuy in an Interlocal Agreement with Borger ISD, and roofing bids.
Action will be taken on the items on the board’s consent agenda, which include donations, March 2011 payroll and disbursements, donations, and a change of authority for the Texas Department of Agriculture.
The board will hear financial and tax reports from BISD Business Manager Faye Hooper, the annual report from the School Health Advisory Council, enrollment reports for March 2011, a legislative update, and dates to review.
Campus/district reports will be given on Borger High School pertaining to 1-AAA UIL Academic Results, and V.A.S.E. Results - 2011; Borger Intermediate School, Gateway Elementary School, and the Athletic Department.
Future agenda items will be discussed, and there will be a time of open forum for the public to express its views to the board. Speakers are allowed five minutes, and the board is not allowed to comment on items brought up in open forum.
