On Thursday the Borger High School Tennis team took advantage of playing on their home courts to win the 1-3A district championship by defeating Pampa, Perryton, and Dalhart. Winning, and finishing the spring season undefeated, was the mixed doubles team of Josh Madden and Abbie Madden.
After receiving a bye and cruising in their second round match 6-0, 6-0, the match between Madden and Madden vs Silva and Gage of Pampa was touted to be a very tough match up, but in the end the strength of the brother-sister duo was too much, with the Maddens winning 6-2,6-4.
Also in Mixed Doubles, the team of Alex Clendenin and Lindsey Harmon finshed in fourth.
In an all Borger final, the Girls’ Doubles team of Clara Saenz and Lindsey Murley defeated DeAnne Myers and Casandra Fonseca for first place, and both teams qualified for the regional tournament.
