On Saturday afternoon the Borger Lady Bulldogs got into the District 1-3A win column by out-slugging the Perryton Rangerettes 19-13 up in Perryton.
Lady Bulldogs Head Coach Steve Watkins was pleased with his team’s performance, saying, “Both teams were hitting and making plays; we just made more. I am proud of them, they fought and scratched and got ‘er done. We finally hit the ball well, executed plays and made the routine plays on defense.”
Seniors Brittany Thomas and Lyndsey Barrow each had homeruns in the game with the whole team doing a good job at the plate, according to Watkins.
Freshman Taylor Hickman pitched the first couple innings while senior Traysha Walker finished the game on the mound.
The Lady Bulldogs complete the first round of district play with a 1-2 record. Watkins hopes Saturday’s win will give the team confidence going foward, saying, “Hopefully this will give us more confidence going into the second round, that is all we have been lacking when we struggle, mental toughness, confidence.”
The Lady Bulldog improve to 16-14 overall and will next travel to take on Pampa tomorrrow afternoon at 5:00 p.m.
