MIt’s almost here!
The Hutchinson County Friends of the Library Spring Book sale is set to begin this Thursday, March 31, and it will run through Saturday, April 2, set to be held at the Borger branch of the Hutchinson County Library.
The sale will be open to members only on Thursday, with hours of 4-7 p.m. On Friday and Saturday, the sale will be open to the general public, with hours of 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on April 1, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 2.
Lydia Fowlkes, who is with the Friends of the Library, said there will be a variety of material for eager readers to get their hands on at the sale.
“Thanks to the generosity of county citizens with their donations of hardback and paperback books and the discards from the three county libraries, there is a great selection of materials available for purchase,” she said.
In particular, there are numerous volumes in special sections, which include children’s hardbacks, religion, cookbooks, classics, biography, Christmas and crafts, large print, and miscellaneous nonfiction.
Fowlkes said the sale will also be a good time of fellowship for those who choose to attend.
“The sale offers not only fruitful browsing among the books, but also the opportunity to visit with your neighbors and friends as you all seek out bargains and great reads,” she said.
All of the proceeds go to the county libraries to purchase supplies that cannot be covered in the regular budget, so Fowlkes said no one can lose by participating in the semi-annual event.
The prices at the sale truly promise to be bargains, with adult hardbacks at 50 cents, children’s hardbacks at 25 cents, and all paperbacks at two for 25 cents. Fowlkes especially encourages the public to attend the sale on Saturday.
“On the closing day, there will be a Super Saturday Special Surprise Sale for paperbacks only,” she said. “Be sure to come by that day and see what the surprise is.”
The public is invited to come and encouraged to join Friends of the Library to support the three county libraries.
